Shame

Shame

An art experiment. Marshall Rosenberg, founder of non violent communication, pointed out that feelings manifest themselves in the body. Space, energy and temperature change with every feeling.

I examined the feeling of shame. The first step was to find out how shame changes the perception of the body. I asked 100 people how their bodies feel when they are ashamed. All of them told me the same things: there appears pressure and they feel cramped, but also notice a burning heat.

So I was looking for ways to express with my opportunities. I melted plastic balls with a heat gun and deformed them with different tools. To show the feeling as a continuous process I created deformed balls on different stages and arranged them progressively.

I also documented the working process on video.

All objects and videos were exhibited at tjg. theater junge generation.
At the moment the objects are shown at Fachhochschule Dresden.
